2026 Personal Statement Questions
The new personal statement will require students to answer three questions
Why do you want to study your course or subject?
How have your qualifications and studies helped you to prepare for this course or subject?
What else have you done to prepare outside of education, and why are these experiences helpful?

It is important to remember when the Universities review your personal statement they look at the application as a whole therefore it is essential you do not repeat yourself when answering these questions
The UCAS website has a personal statement builder program on their website which is useful to help guide your answers
Do not plagerise. Statements are scanned thoroughly and Universities will be contacted if you do.
In depth research on the course you are applying to and tailoring your personal statement to this is paramount.
Evidence is crucial. Use as many practical examples as possible which show your suitability to the course.
The earlier you write your personal statement the more time you have to identify gaps and address these.
Balance the content between the subject specific skills and the transferable skills you have gained at school.
Each question has a minimum character count of 350 characters
